Can Casey be charged for murder?

Posted by Dana on September 8, 2008

According to the Orland Sentinel it has been done before but it is a challenge.

“If the body has not been found or recovered, [prosecutors] must present circumstantial evidence that allows the jury to conclude the victim is dead and died at the hands of the defendant,” said Charles Putnam, a former prosecutor and researcher at Justiceworks, a research group in justice studies at the University of New Hampshire. This can include evidence acquired by crime-scene investigators, statements from witnesses, and details about the behavior and actions of the suspect in the crime. To prove a circumstantial case, the information presented at trial must be sufficient to convince a jury that a murder is the only reasonable explanation of what took place.”

For someone not wanting a child in the first place seems to have herself in a corner as more possible motive for killing Caylee. Here is more on this story from the Orlando Sentinel

Another story that just came to life in today’s paper of the Orlando Sentinel is the one where Casey is given an extension of time away from her house to meet with her lawyer at his Kissimmee office but must be back home by 6:00 pm. ” Anthony did not schedule any leaves this weekend, according to jail spokesman Allen Moore. She will meet again with the home confinement officer on Monday.

“Anthony is subject to random drug and alcohol tests, but she was not tested today, Moore said. A home confinement officer can and will make random, unannounced visits at her home.”

I think she needs to be on house arrest and not be able to leave no matter what unless escorted by police to and from the lawyers office. And why she was given an extension I have not clue nor do I really understand the concept.  It’s possible I just don’t know how far away Kissimmee is?

Here is a video on Youtube that I found that is a tribute to Caylee and it is very sad ( may make you cry):

New Facebook Application: MyMoney

Posted by Dana on September 8, 2008

Before I go into this story I would like for everyone to pass this on, to whoever may be using Facebook. My mother is an Account Executive for many Credit Unions out in California and has been told to sell this new technology advance to her Clients. She is also employee of IntegraSys who is owned by Fiserv.

Fiserv ”MyMoney is an innovative banking application built on Facebook Platform, a development system that enables companies and developers to build applications for the Facebook website, where all of Facebook’s 100 million users can interact with them.Recognizing the popularity of Facebook among Gen Y consumers, who are desirable prospects for many credit unions, Fiserv developed MyMoney to enable Facebook users to search for and join a credit union and manage their funds via the familiar Facebook interface.Using MyMoney, they can view account balances, history and transfer funds right from their Facebook profile, with multiple layers of security protecting their data and accounts. Developed to reach younger members and potential members where they spend time online, MyMoney is equally beneficial for any Facebook user, regardless of age. “

Fiserv has also won The Banker Technology Awards 2008 Retail Award for Online Innovation.

So with that being said I don’t really have an opinion about it. Basically it’s a way for the credit unions to reach current and potential customers who are online “all” the time. If anyone wants any information about Fiserv or Integrasys in general or is interested in what they have to offer for your needs, please email me and I can get you in contact with either my mother or someone else that has better knowledge of it.

U.S seizes two mortgage giants

Posted by Dana on September 7, 2008

Fannie May and Freddie Mac has been taken over by the government. The reason for this is,”Washington’s most dramatic attempt yet to shore up the nation’s housing market, which is suffering from record foreclosures and falling prices.” This move will be overseen by the Federal Housing Finance Agency ( FHFA).

“Freddie CEO Richard Syron and Fannie CEO Daniel Mudd will no longer run the agencies, while the FHFA will assume control of the boards. Regulators took care not to foist blame on the two executives, adding that they would stick around to help with the transition.

Syron and Mudd will be replaced by two finance veterans charged with restoring the mortgage titans to health. Herb Allison, the former chairman and CEO of pension provider TIAA-CREF, will head Fannie Mae. Allison formerly served as president of Merrill Lynch.

David Moffett, who served as vice chairman and chief financial officer of U.S. Bancorp until early 2007 and then joined the Carlyle Group private-equity firm as a senior adviser, will take over Freddie Mac. “

Must have Gadgets of 2008

Posted by Dana on September 6, 2008

I am not your so called, “Gadget Guru”  but I do like to know what is out there that I wish I had. Some people may not have read but I live in rural Nebraska, along a river, and down in between steep canyons with lots of pine trees. With that said I can’t even get cell service. ( Yes in 2008 ,there are parts of the USA that can not get this basic form of communications that so many people take for granted.) I would so love to have the newest cell phone out there, as long as it actually worked, just to be able to text.

My all time favorite website out there is CNET. If some are not familiar with who they are here is they mission straight from the website. “Our mission is simple:CNET.com shows you the exciting possibilities of how technology can enhance and enrich your life. We provide you with information, tools, and advice that help you decide what to buy and how to get the most out of your tech.”  I couldn’t have explained it any better.

So with that said, I introduce to you the Top 10 must have gadgets of 2008.

Posted by Dana on September 6, 2008

I found a great site from CBS News that has all of the Republican National Convention Speeches in case some of you were not able to watch the Convention on TV. Convention Speeches is where you will find them. You wil have to view a little advertising before it goes right into the speeches.

Also not that in McCains Thursday night speech, you will see a view of the protestors that I wrote about earlier.

Update: Palin puts Jet on E-Bay

Posted by Dana on September 6, 2008

Well a reader made a comment on the story of Palin selling Alaska’s Ex-Governor’s jet on E-bay. While I and others were made to believe that it actually sold on E-bay. Here is the story from Mercury News that informs us that it never was actually sold on E-bay and that a broker had to list it and ultimatly sold it to a business man.

I do remember part of her speach where she had said something along the line of ” and I put it on E-bay.” So she doesnt actaully say she sold it on ebay, she just put it up for auction on ebay and when that didn’t work she went with an Aircraft Broker.

Here is another article that goes more into detail from the Washington Post.

CodePink Protestors Interupt McCain’s Speech

Posted by Dana on September 4, 2008

As I was watching the Republican National Convention tonight I noticed the camera man focus on some protesters but only for a second. I really didn’t understand who they were and why they were there in the first place. Here is an article from Fox News that covers it.  Upon reading the article they referred to the protesters as CodePink. Here is a break down of who they are and what they represent, as outlined in their website above, when referring to who members are:

“People* committed to creative protest against militarism and injustice are CODEPINK.

People who want to influence a shift in the focus of world society and governments from militarism to life-affirming endeavors are CODEPINK.

People who are not ashamed to wear a big pink button, and thereby encourage conversation are CODEPINK.

People who are not afraid to be unreasonable or to be called un-patriotic in the name of peace and social justice are CODEPINK.

People who realize that you must be the change you want to see in this world are.

*People includes all people regardless of their gender. Though initiated by women and composed primarily of women, CODEPINK does not discriminate on the basis of gender, sex, ethnicity, age, religion, or social-economic status.

One note to make, I didn’t mind the people who were their chanting” USA, USA…” while the protesters where making theme selves known. But after the protesters were escorted out people continued to interrupt McCain’s speech and it got pretty annoying. Maybe from a TV viewers perspective, I just wanted to hear what he had to say and for him to get on with it, without any delays. That could be just my personal impatience on the matter as I often get annoyed with people disrupting whomever may be talking at that moment. It could also be the manners my mother instilled in me on not to talk when someone else is talking.

Chloroform found in Casey Anthony’s car

Posted by Dana on September 4, 2008

As if the story isn’t interesting already, Chloroform has been found in the trunk of Casey Anthony’s car and  ” her computer confiscated within hours of her July arrest, show visits to Web sites with information on chloroform.” It just shows that the 3 year old little girls Caylee is truly not with us anymore and it breaks my heart. Everyone wants her to be alive and found but in reality with everything stacking up against Casey, its just not going to happen.

Here is another article from the Orlando Sentinel on the same topic. It also outlines 6 charges that she is currently faced with. I took the liberty and located Chloroform on Wikipedia so those interested in knowing more about this chemical.

I am curious to find out as to how easily it is, for the average person to,to get your hands on this potentially deadly chemical. Is there some sort of law stating exactly how much you can get without being certified to handle it or without being a company? If so how did she get her hands on it? I dug through the Internet and came across Wiki Answers in which might give us a clue as to a loophole into how she got it. If someone knows about the law’s surrounding this please comment.

Please note, that I am not researching this information for people to get their hands on this nasty stuff, I am just doing this to become more aware of it.
