Early Voting

Posted by Dana on October 24, 2008

Its official! I turned in my early voting ballot and am so glad that it’s done and over with. Since I live a bazillion miles away from the nearest town ( 17 to be exact) I get an absentee ballot for living outside city limits. As most of you might have gathered, I am a Republican That’s a no brainer. But I must admit that I was stopped dead in my tracks for at least a week before truly deciding on who and what I wanted to vote for. Aside from the nitty gritty, since I refuse to debate about things right now, this was hard for me. I honestly do not think either McCain nor Obama  should be on the ballot but since they are the best that we can do I had to pick who I thought would be the better of the two and therefor came to vote for McCain.

Where are we going?

Posted by Dana on September 11, 2008

I have been absent from the blog lately and am starting up again. Anyone who has been following my blog I apologize. Its been a rough week.

I am often wondering where we, as Americans, are going with our country.  Some are speculating that we are shifting towards a socialist country and other say that we are already there. Many are blaming the Bush administration for getting us into this mess, but I believe that we have been going down this path even before Bush was sworn as President.  The more that people want the government to be involved and “bail” them out of whatever situation they may be in, the more the government becomes involved. Duh…You ask and you shall receive times 10.

Aside from Party affiliations, I do believe we need to have new leaders in Washington that actually give a damn about our economy and not just wanting things better for themselves. I feel that they have lost connections with the rest of us that put in a hard days work just to make ends meet. And why are these big companies being bailed out when their CEO’s and Executives are getting paid over $200K and whatever money these companies do get will trickle down to the ground worker maybe getting $100 dollars out of the deal if not at least being able to keep their jobs while the big wigs are getting way more than they should?

Instead of rescuing Fannie and Freddie for example, why not give the money to people that have the loans through them? If they are not capable of “running” a big business, then why should “we” the Americans bail them out with our tax money and not even have a say as to where the money goes? I pay taxes every single year but when my life goes up in flames, so to speak, then why are the people in Washington not standing by to back me up with “my” money.

Some people may say ” thats what savings accounts are for.” My response to that is why do these big business not have savings accounts to bail their asses out when their companies go up in flames in stead of depending on the government to give them “my” money.  I am so frustrated with Washington making big decisions in reguards to everyone tax money but yet we dont get a say so as to how its dispersed. I know I pretty much repeating myself but I hope everyone gets my point. Things need to turn around and change FAST.  Get a hold of your State Representatives and Congressman or woman and tell them your thoughts. After all they do work for us, the Americans, not for themselves.

Here is Blog that has Ron Pauls predictions about Fannie and Freddie 5 years ago. I truly wished people had listened.

Here is Glenn Becks view of the Fannie and Freddie story .

It’s official, I am a potato digger

Posted by Dana on September 7, 2008

Earlier today hubby and the kiddos went over to the in laws to have hubby’s mom help my re-upholster some dining room table chair. This isn’t a difficult task to do but it was my first time and I wanted to do it right.  After we were finished she somehow talked everyone into going out to her garden and digging up potato’s. I was hesitant to go because it was pouring outside and not to mention 53 degrees outside. I also didn’t want my clothes to get drenched because I had nothing to change into. Well, I finally gave in and went out there. They had this thing a ma jig that they pulled behind a tractor that pretty much digs them up and throws them on top of the ground instead of them being underground. Pretty neat contraption. Here is a picture of it for those of you that do not have any idea what I’m talking about.

Potato Digger

Potato Digger

Yes it is an antique and originally was pulled behind a horse or two. Saved both time and headaches because after 30 minutes I was ready to go inside.

If anyone has stories about these things please comment as I would love to hear about it. Any antique farm machinery is fascinating to me.

Republican National Convention Speeches

Posted by Dana on September 6, 2008

I found a great site from CBS News that has all of the Republican National Convention Speeches in case some of you were not able to watch the Convention on TV. Convention Speeches is where you will find them. You wil have to view a little advertising before it goes right into the speeches.

Also not that in McCains Thursday night speech, you will see a view of the protestors that I wrote about earlier.

Mark your calendars

Posted by Dana on September 4, 2008

On October 2nd at Washington University in St.Louis, Biden and Palin will have their debate.

From Fox News When asked a question from a younger voter, Biden responded,”I have no quarrel, none whatsoever and I’ve made no judgment about whether or not she is qualified or not assuming as a governor of a state,” he continued.  “Our disagreements will be based upon how fundamentally – if it’s fundamental, and I expect it’s likely to be — her views on everything from the Supreme Court, protecting a woman’s right, all the way to whether or not we are going to end the war in Iraq. That’s what it’s going to be based upon.

I think this debate is going to be watched by more Americans, than the Presidential debate mostly because Palin is a fireball. Biden has a big task on his hand with the  preparations for the “battle”.

I expect it to go something like this  starts at :35

Just had a light bulb moment

Posted by Dana on September 3, 2008

I was talking to my mother over the phone the other day and as a republican herself she made a comment about Obama and Biden in reference to their names. I didn’t want to sound confused and say “huh? ” so i just kinda laughed and moved on. Now 2 days later I am looking through the papers and there it was, my mothers comment hitting me like a brick(can we say blonde moment). I can not believe it took me this long to finally get it and it is a scary one. Obama Biden sounds too much like Osama Bin Ladin

I am not the only one who caught this so here is a picture from Fox News.

People protest Casey Anthony outside of home

Posted by Dana on September 3, 2008

Orlando Sentinel- Protesting outside of home covers the story of when Casey anthony was arrested and taken back to jail. There you can also view additional video of the Anthony family and protestors.

I have no sad feelings for Casey nor will I ever devolope any. I agree with a comment I received in that Casey is keeping her mouth shut hopeing that the body will not be found so therefore, she will not be charged for murder and then can go home and continue her partying life without the burdon of a child. When looking back at all of this it makes sense. She is only 22 and has a child that she clearly isn’t realdy to take care of. So with a child in the way you are limited on what you can do and when without finding arrangements for a babysitter if she ever did.
